Elaine Rose Needham, Age 85, also known as “Lainey” by her siblings and household, handed absent peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice Property in Scarborough, ME on January 30th, 2023.

Elaine was born November 10th, 1937 in Sanford, ME. She was the daughter of the late Alphie and Dorothy Ridley Sweeney. Elaine went as a result of the Sanford College program until finally her Junior yr. She performed the clarinet and basketball. She graduated her Senior yr from Dover Substantial Faculty.

Elaine married Roger H. Needham June 18, 1956, even though Roger was in the Air Force. They moved to Alabama for a calendar year, then returned to Dover, NH the place they lived for 55 yrs.

Elaine begun her job performing for the Unemployment Office in Significant University and numerous secretarial positions in the Dover, Rochester location for most of her daily life. They also savored tenting, snow skiing, paying summers at Ronnie and Carolyn’s camp at Mousam Lake, swimming, fishing and waterskiing. Most Sundays you could also locate them at her mother’s house on Middle Department Pond wherever the relatives gathered for Gram’s excellent cooking and fun on the lake.

Elaine was pre-deceased by her husband of 55 many years, Roger H. Needham, her brother, Ronnie Sweeney of Springvale, ME, her brother, Richard Sweeney, of Springvale, ME and her sister, Pamela Sweeney of Manchester, NH. She is survived by her sister, Faye Lowery of Farmington, NH, her two sons, Scott R. Needham, Sr. and his companion, Pamela Cote, Craig A. Needham and wife, Nancy Needham of Wells, ME, grandchildren, Erin Needham of Rochester, NH, Andrea M. Needham and companion David Carignan of Londonderry, NH, Chad Needham of Alton, NH, Scott Needham, Jr. and wife Samantha of Lebanon, ME, and Stephanie Needham of Marlborough, MA. She also has 8 excellent grandchildren, Haze, Hannah, Gabriel, Kyler, River, John Henry, Wyatt and Zoey.

A visitation for Elaine will be held 2-4 PM Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Street, Wells, ME, adopted by a funeral support at 4:00pm. A graveside services will be held in the Spring at the Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford, ME.

In lieu of bouquets, the family kindly requests that a donation be manufactured to Gosnell Memorial Hospice Dwelling, c/o Hospice of Southern Maine, 390 US Rt. One, Scarborough, ME 04074, or to York Hospital, 3 Loving Kindness Way, York ME 03909, in Elaine’s memory.
